As mentioned in the story, “The Numbers Don’t Lie” -http://www.greatbearlakeoutdoors.com/stories/fishing/item/91-the-numbers-dont-lie - we have had some weeks that were clearly better than others for catching trophy size Lake Trout on Great Bear Lake.

Not that there has ever been a bad one mind you, but this particular week in July, 1993 while fishing out of Trophy Lodge, was without a doubt one of the very best.

Here is how our “group” made out:

 Art Ross: 20, 20, 20, 21, 22, 22, 22, 22, 24, 25, 26, 28, 29, 30,

                   30, 31, 34, 36, 36, 36, 37, 38, 38, 42, 44, 45 & 50.

 Rodney Harback: 20, 21, 21, 21, 23, 24, 25, 25, 26, 27, 28, 29,

                                    31, 31, 34, 37, 39, 44, 47 & 54.

 Bob Resnick: 20, 21, 21, 25, 25, 26, 29, 29, 30, 30, 33, 41 & 42.

 John Colussi: 20, 20, 21, 22, 25, 27, 30, 31 & 40.

 Harold Ball: 20, 20, 20, 23½, 25, 26½, 32 & 35.

 Mel Wise: 20, 22, 22 & 22.

 Larry Boss: 22 & 24.

 Andy Bocus: 20, 20, 21, 22, 26 & 35.

 Ed Harback: 22, 30 & 41.

 Stewart Sackman: 22 & 24.

 Dave Shlagbaum: 30 & 36.

There were 92 trophy fish caught and released, with a total weight of 2726 lbs., for an average of 29.6 lbs. per fish.

This was of course in addition to the 100’s of fish that didn’t make the trophy list, and other trophies caught by those individuals who were not part of our group.

It was a mighty fine week indeed!
